Program management klimaaktiv renewable heat
Austria's Climate Change Program klimaaktiv supports the development of renewable heat with multiannual activities and measures to raise awareness and support decision-making, carried out by a consortium of local and regional energy agencies. Since 2014 there is for the first time also a focus on urban areas.
The tasks of the Energy Center are the overall project management, the lead of the part on urban districts as well as the local work in Vienna. Activities and objectives in the field of urban districts are:
- "community building" and common learning in three cities / regions with appropriate formats (regular round tables / workshops, several field trips) to convince high-level actors (planners, utilities, developers, etc.) of renewable heat solutions in urban areas.
- support five urban development projects in Vienna, Graz and Salzburg to introduce renewable heat solutions in the planning processes. In the medium term innovative renewable systems should be implemented in at least two neighbourhoods / settlements.
- improve the framework conditions to favour the use of renewable heat in urban planning and development.
