The overall objective of the project "SISAK" was the development of international waterway transport on the Sava river and the provision of technical assistance for the Masterplan of Sisak New Port.
Appropriate infrastructure and a well-developed transport systems are essential prerequisites for a sustainable economic development. Therefore, the Republic of Croatia puts significant efforts into the improvement of the transport system based on national priorities and as part of the European transport networks. The promotion of river transportation is a core element of the Croatian transport strategy. Within the work of the International Sava River Basin Commission (ISRBC) a comprehensive plan for the rehabilitation of the Sava waterway was elaborated. The rehabilitation of the Sava River with guaranteed minimum fairway depths is an important prerequisite for a successful investment into Sisak New Port.
This Project was implemented by a consortium led by iC consulenten Ziviltechniker GesmbH in co-operation with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure, TINA Vienna was one of the project partners.
