Implementation Report TEN-T

The European Commission DG Transport and Energy is required to draw up a biennial report on the progress made with the implementation of the Guidelines for the development of the Trans-European Network. This report covered the period of 2004 and 2005. The commission document was based on data supplied by the "Implementation report on the TEN-T guidelines for the period 2004-2005" study. A project initiated for this purpose serves to gather infrastructure data of all 25 Member States of the European Union, plus Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Turkey. 7 project partners (from Austria, Denmark, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland and Portugal) collected the data, entered them into a geographical information system and analysed them.

The information gathered in this way included both data on the technical infrastructure and details of the TEN-T investments the individual countries had already made or planned. The project-specific geographical information system enabled to visualise the data in the form of maps and charts, which constitute an integral part of the study. The project under the leadership of TINA Vienna was launched on 22 August 2006 and was scheduled to last 13 months.
