The objective of the research project Optihubs is the development of a standardized optimization system based on innovative simulation algorithms for the Port of Vienna. Logistical, operational and administrative processes and general requirements will be connected. Additionally, the potential of relevant groups of goods for inland waterway transport on the Danube will be analysed in order to increase transport capacities for the Danube. A catalogue of requirements based on processes, cargo flows, handling volumes and transport operations will be created as a first step towards a simulation model. The project builds on the results of the Smart Hubs 2.0 project.
The project, funded by the research funding company (FFG), is coordinated by the TU Vienna and runs from August 2014 to July 2016. Other project partners are TINA International, the University of applied science BFI, Nast Consulting and the Port of Vienna.
