TINA VIENNA takes part
The Stakeholder Forum 3 "Action Plan for 2012-2015" of the "smart city Wien" project, which is funded by the Austrian Climate and Energy Fund, was held on 20 and 21 September 2011 at the Coat-of-Arms Hall in Vienna's City Hall. One of the major elements of the smart city Wien project is a stakeholder process, which was implemented in a total of 3 forums, with Stakeholder Forum 3 marking the conclusion of the forum series. The forums aimed at collecting and preparing development measures to support Vienna on its further way to become a model city for climate friendliness and sustainable urban lifestyle. For this purpose, an effort was made to involve all relevant stakeholders in the process to jointly discuss contents and potential measures of an Action Plan 2012-2015 for Vienna's future energy policy and a climate-friendly future of the city.
The Stakeholder Forum 3 was opened by Vienna's Mayor Michael Häupl. Following an introduction by the project manager Thomas Madreiter, Head of Department at Municipal Department 18 - Urban Development and Planning, participants spent the two days discussing an Action Plan 2012-2015 for Vienna's future energy policy and a climate-friendly future of the city. About 100 stakeholders from the fields of industry, planning, energy supply and administration explored different aspects of a Smart City.
On the basis of the first two Stakeholder Forums, Stakeholder Forum 3 was used to work on a concrete "Action Plan". Participants of this forum formulated recommendations on implementation and important measures for future business models and defined, among other things, basic political conditions, citizen participation, competences and roles of the stakeholders. In addition, Forum 3 also served as an important communication and discussion platform which could be used as a starting point for future cooperation.
With the documents "Smart Energy Vision 2050", "Roadmap for 2020 and beyond" and "Action Plan for 2012- 2015", which will be elaborated as part of the project, Smart City Vienna can and is to provide an important input for strategic decisions of the City of Vienna at political and administrative level and hence may contribute to strengthening Vienna's role in Europe, to further maintaining and improving the quality of living and the environment in the city, to increasing Vienna's attractiveness for research and investment and to enhancing the city's prosperity. The project forms part of Vienna's Smart City Initiative, which is supported by Mayor Michael Häupl.
